Pups & Perambulations #3
It has been far too long since I wrote about a perambulation with our pups. Here we go!
THE PUPS
Our little man Dozer hit a rough patch with his health this past year. Not that he knew it, and he is doing better now. Our veterinarian says he is as healthy as he can be for his age. His energy certainly has not wavered since he was a puppy. He trotted happily for the duration of our outing. His only complaint about our walk today was that it was too short.
Amelia has never seen a bench she didn’t want to sit on, so we gladly obliged her. Her favorite part of a walk is all the people who smile at her. And there were plenty of smiles for her today.
THE PERAMBULATION
These are photos from today’s walk around Lake Murray.
Lake Murray is part of San Diego’s amazing Mission Trails Regional Park. I’ll write up a hike there at another time, but right now I want to share with you why Lake Murray is such a great place to walk. It is centrally located, only a twenty-minute drive from downtown San Diego or from the beaches. If you enter near the Lake Murray Rest Area, there is ample parking and lots of picnic benches. Whereas you cannot walk or bike all around the lake (there is a restricted area near the dam), the roughly six-mile out-and-back is wide, paved, and mostly flat. Because it is in a suburban area, the path is well-travelled. We were walking amongst joggers, bicyclists, families, groups of friends chatting, and so many dogs. Because, of course, dogs are allowed, required to be on leash.
Strangely, after all our time in San Diego, this was our first trip to Lake Murray. I doubt it’ll be our last.
Hope you enjoyed this perambulation with our pups!
